Cambodia at a Glance

Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand in Southeast Asia all have distinct characters and features despite their somewhat unified past as the former French Indochina. Their vibrant nature, tumultuous past, and alluring tourism nowadays make them highly in-demand destinations both for novice and experienced travellers. The best time to visit is between October and April, when it’s the dry season, but note that November through January is considered the peak season with the highest rates and busiest sites. While you’re likely to find LGBT-friendly establishments in bigger cities like Bangkok and Hanoi, the public opinion in these Southeast Asian countries is still a little conservative. While you’re unlikely to face discrimination, be cautious of public displays of affection, especially in the rural areas.
