Costa Rica at a Glance

Costa Rica is defined by its perfect tropical climate, mesmerising landscapes, incredible biodiversity, and sustainable ecotourism looking to protect the fragile and unique ecosystem. The national identity in Costa Rica is shaped by the “pura vida” or “pure life” motto. Travellers from far and wide are drawn to Costa Rica to experience life in its purest form by connecting to nature and all things living. While Costa Ricans pride themselves on being friendly and welcoming, the public attitude towards the LGBTQ+ community is still rather conservative. In the capital, the gay scene is thriving, but there’s not a lack of places where public displays of affection may still be frowned upon, so it’s best to practice caution. The peak travel season in Costa Rica is between November and April when the weather is driest. Quieter months include May and June, as it’s the beginning of the rainy season, also known as the “Green season”, when the rainforests are at their lushest and crowds are minimal.
